Abstract

600,469. Chucks. EATON, J. Nov. 23, 1944, No. 23280. [Class 83 (iii)] A toggle-operated chuck comprises radial jaws actuated by toggles 9, 12. The free end of the toggles are mounted on spring arms 15 on a plunger 16 secured to an operating rod 20. Movement of the rod 20 to the left closes the jaws until the links 12 are normal to the axis and a heel 18 engages a wedge 24. Adjustment of the latter by a bush 22 or a spring varies the radial position of pins 13 to adjust the jaw openings. ' Chuck.-operating mechanism.-The rod 20 mav be controlled by a fluid cylinder on the headstock.
