The casing a has a groove c, the width of which is approximately the same as the thickness of the diaphragm so that the diaphragm is freely supported and when fixed may slide radially in the groove. The edges of the groove are curved to allow the diaphragm to flex freely. Alternatively, the inner periphery of the diaphragm may be supported similarly.
