Abstract

Compounds of the general formula <FORM:0597810/IV/1> where A is either an amino group or a group hydrolysable or reducible to an amino group, and R is the residue of an organic amine are prepared by treating a compound of the formula <FORM:0597810/IV/2> where B is a group convertible by hydrolysis or reduction, with an organic amine. The parent sulpho-halides may be prepared as described in Specification 597,809. In examples, para - (o - acet - aminophenyl) - benzene sulphonyl chloride is reacted in pyridine solution with: (1) aniline; (2) benzylamine; (3) 2-amino-biphenyl; (4) 4-aminobiphenyl; (5) p-aminobenzenesulphonamide; (6) p-(o-amino-phenyl) - benzenesulphonamide; (7-12) p-(o-nitrophenyl)benzene-sulphonyl chloride is reacted in pyridine solution with the amines used in 1-6 above; (13) the p-(o-acetamidophenyl) acted in pyridine solution with the amines used benzenesulphon - N - phenylamide obtained in example (1) is hydrolysed with concentrated hydrochloric acid; (14-18) the compounds prepared in examples (2-6) are simularly reduced; (19) p-(o-nitrophenyl)benzene-sulphon-N-phenylamide prepared as in example 7 is reduced in methanol solution with tri- and hydrochloric acid; (20-24) the compounds prepared in examples (8-12) are similarly reduced.
