Abstract
An aggregate for lightweight concrete is prepared by sintering a mixture of fly ash and slag obtained from a furnace burning pulverized coal, and a lightweight fine porous inert material, which is preferably "return fire sinter" obtained from a previous sintering of fly-ash or fly-ash and slag. Preferred proportions are in the ratio of 3/4 cu. ft. of return fine sinter, 1 1/4 cu. ft. of fly ash and 1/2 cu. ft. of slag.
