Abstract

597,096. Discharge lamps. LUMALAMPAN AKTIEBOLAG. March 14, 1946, No. 6376. Convention date, May 2, 1944. [Class 39 (i)] [Also in Group XXXV] A fluorescent electric discharge tube has at each end a coiled filament body divided into two halves, one functioning as a main electrode and the other as a starting electrode, and each starting electrode 2, 4 is connected to the opposite main electrode 1, 3, directly or indirectly as shown through a condenser, and the main electrodes connected to the current source through either a common choke or separate choke as shown. The main and adjacent starting electrode at each end of the tube are exactly alike as regards design and activation, and their functions may be interchanged to increase the life of the tube. The condensers included in the starting current circuits may be placed in the holders of the tube. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also the application of the circuit arrangements to embodiments having two auxiliary electrodes with a starting discharge between them adjacent each main electrode and the electrodes may be of the solid body type. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
