Abstract
596,300. Delivering measured quantities. GENERAL FOODS CORPORATION. Nov. 15, 1944, No. 22573. Convention date, Dec. 22, 1943. [Class 106 (v)] Apparatus for withdrawing and delivering measured quantities of a mixture comprises a container having a cylindrical inner bottom surface, a stirring arm, rotatable about a horizontal axis concentric with the cylindrical surface, with a bucket pivoted to its extremity by a horizontal pivot beneath and to one side of its centre of gravity, whereby the bucket scrapes the cylindrical surface and tips and discharges by gravity over the edge of the container. A shallow oval container 10 has a cylindrical diametrical strip 12 and contains a soupy mixture of baked beans and juice. Stirring arms 15 carry buckets 16, pivoted on pins 17, which buckets, scraping along the cylindrical surface 12, dump by gravity measured quantities of the mixture over the edge of the container into a chute 20. Any number of arms can be used and in a modification two or more buckets are mounted side by side on the same arm. In another modification two sets of arms rotate in opposite directions, chutes being provided at each side of the container.
