Abstract

596,288. Rocket-launching guns. HYDRAN PRODUCTS, Ltd., and MOTLEY, L. June 29, 1944, No. 12408. [Class 92 (ii)] Rockets 1 are continuously fed on a belt 2, Figs. 1, 3, or endless band 24, Fig. 4, to a firing position against stops 8 in line with a launching tube 3, the rockets being automatically fired direct from the belt or band on reaching this position. In the form shown, in Figs. 1, 3, the belt is of the desintegrating link type and is fed by pawls 11 on a reciprocating slide 10, the usual retaining pawls 12 being provided. Firing is effected by a member 23 geared to a rack rod 21 on the slide 10. A gap 9 between the stops 8 permits of link evacuation. In a modification, Fig. 4, the rockets are fed to clips 24a on an endless belt 24, which passes over pulleys 25 driven by a prime mover adapted to stall when the rockets engage the stops 8. Firing is effected by a biassed rod 29, controlled by the retaining pawl 12, which engages a rocket as it reaches the firing position. Specification 588,920 is referred to.
