Abstract
596,054. Integrating - apparatus. AQUAMETRO WASSERMESSERFABRIK AKT.-GES. July 17, 1945, Nos. 18243 and 18244. Convention dates, July.27, 1944, and Jan. 24, 1945. [Class 106 (iv)] [Also in Group XX] Apparatus for computing the heat consumed in a hot water supply system comprises a clutch mechanism which connects a waterwheel .operated by the flow of water in the system to a revolution counting mechanism for a portion of each revolution dependent upon the temperature difference between the water supply and return pipes. In Fig. 1, crownwheel 15 is geared to counting mechanism via pinion 14 and is engaged by teeth 8 on crosshead 5 rotated by water-wheel shaft 1 and is moved to and fro along shaft 1 by means of rollers 7 maintained to run on track 10 of camdisc 9 by springs 11. Wheel 15 is axially movable when contacted by teeth 8. Cam 9 is movable along shaft 1 by differential lever system 191, 19<11>, 20, 22, Fig. 4, operated by thermometers in the supply and return pipes respectively. In a modification, wheel 15 and cam 9 are moved differentially by respective thermometer controlled lever systems. Height of wheel 15 may be adjusted by a sleeve nut screwed over a bush in plate 12, pinion 14 seating on the nut. In a further modification, shaft 1 drives a cam cylinder having teeth progressively increasing in axial length around the cylinder, the pinion 14 being coupled to the cam cylinder in accordance with its axial position determined by the differential lever system or by a bimetallic strip when one of the temperatures is constant. In another modification, shaft 1 drives an eccentric gear-wheel and a pinion geared to the counting mechanism is moved by the differential lever system to vary the distance between the gear-wheel and pinion centres to bring the pinion into gear with the eccentric wheel for a portion of each revolution thereof.
