[Class 6 (i)] In the steering mechanism of a fore-carriage for agricultural machines, the fore-carriage is provided with a tubular horizontal axle bearing 3 supporting at each end a hollow vertical column 4 through which passes a tube 5 adapted to receive at its top a steering arm 9 and at its bottom an actuating lever 6 connected to the free end of a steering connecting rod 11. Each tube 5 has at the top a T-shaped socket 8 through which passes the steering arm 9. At the lower end of each tube 5 the lever arm 6 extends through a horizontal slot 61 at the bottom of each vertical column 4. An aperture 10 is provided at the free end of each lever arm 6 into which the bent end of the connecting rod 11 can be introduced. The wheel axles 2 are adjustably fixed in the bearing tube 3. The steering arms can be locked by sliding them until their ends rest between the upturned prongs of forked pieces 12 provided at the top of each vertical column 4. To steer from the left-hand side the steering arm 9 on the right-hand side is locked in the forked piece 12 and the bent end of the connecting rod 11 is engaged with the lever arm 6 on the left-hand side, when any rotation of the lefthand steering arm 9 will cause a corresponding change of direction of the machine. For direct steering from the towing means both steering-arms 9 are locked.
