Abstract
595,187. Two-part couplings ; electrostatic screens. JACKSON, D., and PYE, Ltd. Sept. 27, 1943, Nos. 8973/44 (divided out of 595,178) and 6089/44. [Class 38 (i)] A holder for thermionic valves &c. has the insulating body divided into sections each carrying one or more contacts held together by a metal casing or ring. The sector shaped sections 21, Fig. 3, each has a hole 22 in which is mounted a contact as described in Specification 595,186 and the sectors are enclosed in a metal casing 12, 13 such as that described in Specification 595,178. The contacts and the sectors are allowed play in their mountings for self-alignment of the contacts. In a modification, each sector 210, Fig. 7, has a contact 200 inserted laterally in a slot 221 that is closed by the adjacent sector. Endwise movement of the contact is prevented by the engagement of an enlargement 203 in a recess 223. The sectors have a beading 212 that fits an annular recess 105 in a mounting ring 100 sufficient space being allowed for the insertion of the sectors. After assembly the sectors are locked in position by inserting in the central space a wedge or hollow rivet that may allow selfaligning play between the sectors. A radial screen between the sectors of the type described in Specification 595,185 may be secured by lugs on the edge of the screen passing through slots in the flange 104 of the ring 100.
