Abstract
594,618. Wirework for screens. DAY & NIGHT MANUFACTURING CO. June 8, 1945, No. 14575. Convention date, June 30, 1944. [Class 45] [Also in Groups XI and XXVIII] A foraminous metal screen for air filters, gasheater radiants &c., comprises a series of wire coils 12, Fig. 2, arranged parallel and in the same plane across a frame 11, adjacent coils being separated and supported by strips 13 fluted to confine the coils. The frame 11 is of channel section to receive the ends of the coils and, in the manufacture of the screen, is bent to U-shape as shown in Fig. 5. Alternate coils and strips are assembled within the frame and the latter closed by bending over an extended leg 26 to the position shown in broken lines, in which position it is secured by tongues 20, 21. The coils 12 are formed of chrome steel, spring wire or other material. The separating strips 13 are fluted about their centre lines to form alternate high and low peaks 32, 33 which correspond on the two sides of the centre line.
