Abstract
594,028. Valve generating circuits. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd. June 22, 1945, No. 15987. Convention date, March 19, 1944. [Class 40 (v)] A reaction oscillator is provided with a negative feedback path with means including a piezo-electric crystal for neutralising the degenerative effect at the resonant frequency to sustain oscillations at this frequency only. In the Figure, resistor 18 providestheregenerattive coupling for valve oscillator 8, and the negative feedback path comprises resistors 20, 21, which is rendered ineffective at the resonant frequency of circuit 1 by a piezoelectric crystal 22 tuned to the same frequency. The crystal also exerts the usual compensating inductive or capacitive effect in response to any frequency drift in circuit 1. An amplifier stage may be inserted in both feedback paths with a corresponding reversal of connections to the tuned circuit, or the amplifier may be in the positive feedback path only, when both paths terminate at point 6 (Figs. 2, 3, not shown). Multi - electrode valves may be used and the amplitude of oscillation may be regulated by employing resistors 18, 20, 21 with variable resistancecurrent characteristics.
