Abstract
550,171. Valve amplifying circuits. PHILIPS LAMPS, Ltd. (Naamlooze Vennootschap Philips' Gloeilampenfabrieken). May 23, 1941, No. 6664. [Class 40 (v)] Negative feedback is provided in an amplitude modulated carrier frequency amplifier by supplying detected energy from the output. Both direct and alternating voltage components are supplied, if desired through an amplifier, to a diode connected in parallel to an oscillating circuit tuned to the carrier frequency and provided in the input to the amplifier. The direct voltage component is applied in such sense as to bias the diode positively with increase in carrier wave amplitude. Fig. 2 shows a transmitting amplifier 2 in which increasing positive bias is applied to the diode 9 with increase in output by the diode detector 5. Fig. 3 shows a receiver with the negative feedback applied to the intermediate frequency amplifier 22 and consisting of direct current from the second detector 23 and low frequency from the output, the two components of the feedback being separately controllable by potentiometers 28, 29.
