593,427. Seats. NYSTROM, K. G. Jan. 3, 1945, No. 292. Convention date, Dec. 14, 1943. [Class 52(i)] A chair, sofa, &c. of the type comprising a metal tube underframe which yields elastically at its rear has its seat pivotally connected with the yieldable rear end of the underframe and connected to the front end by means of separate springs inserted between the underframe and the seat. The underframe comprises two bent tubes connected by cross-braces 25, 26, 27; the seat comprises a seat proper 15 fixed to two shaped flat irons 28 which are pivotally connected to the rear cross-brace 27 and rest at their front ends on helical springs 33 on the cross-brace 26. Helical springs 22 are detachably secured between rings 20, 21 on tubes 18, 19, the ends of the tubes forming limit stops. A back rest is secured to tube portions 13. In a modification (not shown), the rear cross-brace 27 and the rear portions of the flat irons 28 are lowered and the seat proper is fastened only to the front of the flat irons so that the rear of the seat proper is freely suspended over the flat irons.
