Abstract

592,422. Refrigerators. WESTINGHOUSE ELECTRIC INTERNATIONAL CO. Dec. 19, 1944, No. 25473. Convention date, Dec. 27, 1943. [Class 29] [Also in Groups II, XVIII, XXVIII, and XXIX] In an apparatus for dispensing a cold mixed drink (see Group XVIII) the carbonated water and syrup components of the drink are uniformly cooled by disposing the carbonator 19 and syrup tanks 24 in a tank 10 containing water, with which the carbonator is fed as required by a pump 22, the cooling element 14 of a refrigerator also being disposed in the tank to cool the water and thereby the carbonator and syrup. With each syrup tank is associated a syrup pump 30 and valve 31 and those parts of the pump and valve which contain syrup in readiness for a dispersing operation are substantially disposed within the tank to be cooled by the syrup therein. A baffle 116 fitted with a vent 118 in each syrup tank surrounds the valve and pump to maintain a cold body of syrup in proximity with these parts. The whole apparatus apart from the nozzles 28, 32 is covered with insulation 119 which is in the form of a channel 120 in the neighbourhood of the various conduits of the apparatus below the water tank 10: An agitator 18 is provided to circulate the cooled water.
