Abstract

592,138. Electric igniters. COATH, R. J. B. May 22, 1945, No. 12727. [Class 75 (iii)] An electric igniter comprises a torch 12 which may be withdrawn from a column 8 to depress a slidable spring-loaded member 20 to complete a circuit through a filament 23 and light the torch while it is still held in position for the circuit closure. The torch 12 may have a disclike knob 13 and a detachable lower portion 14 bored axially to receive a wick 15 which is held in contact with a felt pad 10 saturated with spirit from a reservoir 5. When the torch is used to depress the member 20, contact pins 24, 27 are brought together and the filament 23 is energized from an electric cell or cells which may be housed in a pair of tubular feet 2 supporting a base 1. The base 1 may. also be provided with an ash tray 33 and the whole igniter may be made to resemble the Eddystone lighthouse.
