Abstract

591,808. Electric indicating systems. BENDIX AVIATION CORPORATION. June 28, 1944, No. 12331. Convention date, June 23, 1943. [Class 40 (i)] In an arrangement for indicating the relative proportions of fuel and air passing into an engine a hot wire resistance 11 is mounted in the air duct 10 and connected in a bridge circuit A while a variable resistance 16, controlled by a fuel flow meter, is connected in a second bridge circuit B. The circuits are supplied from a common battery 18 and are connected to separate windings in a differential meter 13. The resistance valves are so set initially that current flowing through the two windings of the meter are balanced when the mixture strength is correct as determined by experiment. Any change in the rate of flow of fuel influences resistance 16 and any change in the rate of flow of air varies the cooling of the loop 11 and changes its resistance, thereby affecting the meter indication unless the correct proportions are maintained. Specification 591,818, [Group XXIX], is referred to.
