Abstract

591,690. Fluid flow indicators. BROWN, A. F., and KRONBERGER, H. May 3, 1945, No. 11305. [Class 97 (iii)] [Also in Group XXXVIII] A tube 5 through which the fluid flows is surrounded by a shielding jacket 1 of copper and is steadily heated, e.g. by an electric heater 6, two resistance thermometers 7, 8, or other means for integrating temperature changes over substantial lengths of the tube 5 being symmetrically arranged on either side of the heater 6. The two resistances 7, 8 are arranged in a Wheatstone bridge with two fixed resistances or each resistance 7, 8 is in two halves, and the four helves are arranged to form the four arms of the bridge. Parts of the tube 5, if made of conducting material, may form the heating element 6 and the resistance elements 7, 8. Alternatively the thermometer windings may be used for heating.
