Abstract

591,212. Circular saw machines. BURROW'S, F. W., and GREEN, A. May 3, 1945, No. 11223. [Class 145 (ii)] A circular cross-cut saw machine has the saw mounted over a turntable and on an arm secured to the underside of the turntable so that it can be canted about a horizontal axis and can also be turned with the turntable so that material on the saw bench can be cut at any angle, the saw passing through a diametral slot in the turntable, the lower edges of the slot being bevelled. A turntable 6 is set in a saw bench 4 and has an arm 9 extending from it on which is mounted a support 11 for the saw arm 16. The saw arm 16 is pivoted about an axis 15 and the saw is lowered to the bench by a handle 18 and raised from it by the weight of the motor 17 which drives the saw through pulleys 8a and 17a. The saw 8 and guard 14 are canted about a pivot 12, the support 11 moving over an indicator 10 and having securing means 13. The turntable has a diametral slot 7, and is cut away below the slot so that the saw can enter the slot at an angle. Fences 19 and 20 have bevelled ends to allow the canting of the saw, and can be moved to and from the slot and parallel to the sides 5 of the work bench.
