[Class 20 (ii)] A plurality of superimposed shuttering sections 6 are retained in position by a yoke 8; when the wall has been cast to a predetermined height the yoke is moved upwards relative to the shuttering, to free the lowermost section thereof, and another section of shuttering is added at the top. The yoke 8 has a slideable crosshead 9 carrying a screw 13 on which is a manually operable nut 14. The nut bears on a beam 15 which has hinged legs 16. To raise the crosshead, and the yoke therewith, the legs 16 are placed on top of the wall, as shown, in dotted lines, and the nut operated. The lowest section of shuttering is thus freed and can be removed and re-used higher up. Before casting the next course, the nut 14 and legs 16 are moved up to the positions shown in full and chain-dotted lines, the legs resting on top of the shuttering. The yoke is held in position during this operation by friction with the shuttering, and the yoke and crosshead may be detachably interconnected by pins passed through the holes 18. The yoke may be adjustable in width, to facilitate sliding over the shuttering and to allow for different wall thicknesses. The crosshead may carry a core 12, or supplementary formwork, to allow of casting a cavity wall or one faced with different material from that forming the main portion. Such a form may be placed against the outer wall of the mould and used to produce fluting &c. on the outer side of the wall. The crosshead may have a downward extension 9a carrying a working platform 10, which platform may be used to support shuttering for a floor. A plurality of yokes are normally used in line. The shuttering sections may be interconnected, horizontally and vertically. The invention may be applied to the construction of chimneys, columns &c.
