Abstract
590,277. Electrical control systems. BAILEY METER CO. Oct. 3, 1944, No. 18890. Convention date, Oct. 18, 1943. [Class 38 (iv)] [Also in Group XXIX] In apparatus for heating a fluid in a chamber 11 through the intermediary of a continuously flowing mass of solid refractory material from an upper chamber 10 where it is heated by the combustion of fuel in a chamber 21 the electric motor 60 driving a feeder device 59 circulating the refractory material is controlled in accordance with the temperature of the heated fluid in a conduit 54 after leaving the chamber 11. A temperature responsive resistance 227 is arranged in the conduit 54 and forms one arm of a Wheatstone bridge 226 which controls through an amplifier 237 the operation of a motor 222 which actuates a rheostat 240 in the circuit of the motor 60. Alternatively a speed reducing gear 61 may be actuated to vary the speed of the feeding device 59. An adjustable resistance 230 is provided in the bridge for setting the required temperature value.
