[Class 83 (iii)] [Also in Group XXIII] A combined bench and tool holder having a base A adapted to be supported on an existing bench or table, Fig. 2, or having a pedestal D interposed between the tool holder and the base A of sufficient height so that the base may be stood upon the floor, Fig. 1, comprises an adapter holder E having a dowel to fit into the base A or into the top of the pedestal D and socketed at the upper end to receive various adapters Q secured by a screw Q<1> and designed to receive boot-lasts, anvils, &c., the adapter holder E being supported at its upper end by three or more radial arms F and upright supports G which latter may be connected to the lower end of the part E by other radial arms H ; the arms F are drilled at J to take fixing bolts for various fittings such as a machine vice M and wood vice N. When used with the pedestal D, the upright supports G are connected to the base A by long legs C steadied by stays C<4> and holes C' for castors may be provided. Above the stays are a number of rings O carrying sector-shaped tongs O<1> for nails, screws, &c. and the uppermost ring has a series of holes to take bits, punches, &c. A similar holed ring O<2> has a number of clips O<3> for bradawls &c. Below the trays O<1> is bolted a semicircular compartment P for storing heavy tools such as vices &c. ; the adapters Q are housed along the straight edge and pockets P<1>, P<2> are provided round the curved edge to house tools such as hammers &c. A shaft S with chuck S<1> for drilling and turning is mounted on the uprights and driven by treadle S<3> or motor S<4> and lathe attachment T provided for turning and like operations.
