Abstract
Compositions which may be made into transparent films comprise at least 60 per cent by weight of a solid polymer or interpolymer of ethylene and minor proportions of a naturally occurring fatty acid glyceride and an ester of a carboxylic acid having at least 14 carbon atoms with an alcohol having at least 8 carbon atoms. Naturally occurring glycerides which can be used include palm oil, coconut oil and linseed oil. Suitable esters are undecyl stearate, dodecyl stearate, myricyl linoleate, octadecandiol monolaurate, octyl arachidate, decyl eicosanate and lauryl palmitate. In addition to unsupported films, supported films may be made from these compositions by calendering on supports such as paper, fabric or metal foil. They may also be sheeted on calender rolls which should be maintained at a temperature between 110 DEG and 150 DEG C. Specifications 471,590, 474,426 and 497,643 are referred to.
