589,852. Bobbins or pirns. HARDMEYER, R. Sept. 17, 1942, No. 13140. [Class 120 (iii)] A bobbin or pirn for use in automatic looms is made of a mouldable artificial substance which is insensible to moisture and has the retaining means, by which the bobbin is gripped in the shuttle in the form of individual non-split metallic rings 2 which are secured to the bobbin body in the die-casting process by which the body is moulded; an end ferrule 3 formed with a bulged ring 2a may also be similarly secured to the bobbin body. The rings may be of U-shaped section as shown, or solid, or may be formed from round wire with welded ends.
