Abstract

589,468. Drying materials in long lengths. MATHER & PLATT, Ltd., and BARCLAY, S. F. March 22, 1945, No. 7285. [Class 34 (i)] The speed of cloth, paper &c. through a drying machine is varied in accordance with the differential temperature between the material at an. intermediate position of its travel within the machine, where its temperature is substantially steady, and at some point at the delivery end of the machine, where the temperature is increasing. The differential temperature may be determined by a pair of thermocouples in rubbing contact with the material, or by pressure thermometers of the differential type, and electronic or other means may be associated therewith for controlling automatically the speed of the driving motor of the machine.
