Abstract
589,442. Magnetic tests and measurements. PANDEL, M. Oct. 30, 1944, No. 21162. Convention date, Oct. 29, 1943. [Class 37] An apparatus for measuring variations in the thickness of materials, comprises a rod 28 which is brought into contact with the surface of a body under test. Irregularities of this surface produce a displacement of rod 28 which, by means of a member 27, three rods 26, and a cylinder 25, actuates a movable part 24 of the core of an energized transformer. Displacement of the movable part 24 produces variations of reluctance in the magnetic circuit of the transformer and, consequently, produces a deflection of a galvanometer, connected across the secondary winding 23 of the transformer, proportional to, the variations of the dimensions of the specimen under test.
