[Class 29] [Also in Group XXIX] Hydraulic presses of the kind used for operating the plates of a freezing apparatus of the multiple horizontal plate stack type, as described in Specification 588,826, have the platen j connected to the piston rod a by means permitting limited tilting movement of the platen. The lower wall d of the platen is cupped to receive the rounded lower end of the piston rod, and a nut f on the rod has inclined surfaces e which contact with inclined surfaces g of an aperture in the top wall h to limit the tilt. In a modification, the surfaces g, e are spherical, the tilt being limited by the engagement of a lock nut i against the walls of the socket b.
