[Class 146 (ii)] An envelope blank comprises an envelope front 1 with a sealing flap 8 and side flaps 2 and having extending from its base a detachable part gummed at its edges, the detachable part being adapted to be folded and secured to the flaps 2 by its gummed edges to form an ordinary envelope and after detachment to be sealed at its side edges by additional gummed parts for use as a letter-card. In one form, Fig. 1, the part 4 of the extension 4, 5 is gummed at 4a on its upper face and the part 5 is gummed at 5a and 5b on its underface. It has perforated lines 6, 7 at each side and may be separated from the front 1 by a line of perforations. The flaps 2 are first folded on to the part 1, and the part 4 secured thereto by the gummed edges 4a. The part 5 is then secured to the part 4 by the edges 5a to complete the envelope. For use as a letter-card, the extension 4, 5 is severed along the lines 6 and detached from the front 1. It can be sealed by the gummed edges 5b and subsequently opened along the lines 7. The letter-card may take the form of an application or other form. In a modified arrangement, Fig. 5, the part 4 has side flaps 9 which may be used for correspondence or may be detachable coupons &c. and has gummed strips 4b on its upper face. The part 5 has gummed strips 5a on its lower face and may be provided with an extension 10. The flaps 9 are folded over part 4, and the parts 5, 10 are folded on to one another and then over the part 4, the strips 5a serving to secure the parts 2, 5 to complete the envelope. Additional gummed strips 2a may be provided on the flaps 2 to coact with the gummed strips 5a. A line of perforations 1a separates the parts 1, 4, and perforated lines 6, 7 in the extension are provided as before. The extension can be detached along the lines 1a, 6 and used as a letter-card, being sealed by the strips 4b and opened along the lines 7. The extension may be rectangular in shape or may be tapered slightly as shown.
