[Class 75 (ii)] [Also in Groups XV and XVIII] In a lampshade device, silhouettes, figures, or transparencies 5, Fig. 1, are attached by wires 6 directly to a fan 2 which is supported by a pin 3 attached directly to an electric light bulb 4, so that the rising hot air rotates the fan and causes shadows of the objects to move on the shade 1. The pin 3 may be attached to the top of the bulb 4 by glue, or by a disc of material which melts in the heat and then hardens. The point of the pin may be allowed to rest in the centre of three glass beads glued to the fan 2, or the fan may have a cupped bearing 12, Fig. 5, the pin having a moulded projection 13 which is sprung past the edges of the hole in the fan. A projecting piece may be fitted to part of the shade so that the fan can be stopped. A tube on which is printed wavy lines may be suspended from the fan to produce the effect of rippling water, and if the tube is opaque, vertical slots may be cut in it and a praxinoscope effect obtained by using two fans which may revolve in opposite directions. In a modification, lenses 10, Fig. 4, may be suspended from the fan 2 so as to move or distort images of objects 9 on the shade or the lenses may be fixed and the objects rotatable. Small mirrors or tinfoil may be attached to the underside of the fan 2, and according to the Provisional Specification, projecting metal strips may contact the fan to produce sound, or the fan may be arranged inside the bulb.
