Abstract

<PICT:0587741/III/1> Luminescent material is applied to a surface 6 of an article by suspending the latter at a distance from an upright axis of rotation with the surface 6 in contact with a suspension of the screen material in powdered form in a liquid, and rotating the article with the suspension around the axis so as to deposit the powder by centrifugal action on the surface and also to incline the article by centrifugal action to position the surface to receive the powder. In the example shown an electric motor 4 rotates one or more articles on arms 3 mounted on its axle. Specification 560,460, [Group XL], is referred to.
