Abstract

586,958. Wireless systems. TURCK, J. P. G. Dec. 15, 1943, No. 21068. [Class 40 (v)] [Also in Group XXXVIII] A device for interfering with the control of a radio-guided projectile &c. comprises a radioreceiver which tunes itself to the frequency of the guiding wave and simultaneously tunes a transmitter to the same frequency. An additional manual control may be provided to make the transmitted frequency different from that received. As shown, the received wave is mixed in a tube 20 with a locally generated wave from an oscillator 21 which is automatically tuned by a condenser 24 and shaped as shown in Fig. 2 and connected to a galvanometer movement 30 connected to a known discriminating circuit to keep the beat frequency constant. The reception of a signal also causes the break down of a gas-filled tube 29 which, after a delay of one second energises relay 42 to switch off the receiver and switch on the transmitter. The frequency of the latter is determined by mixing the oscillation from the heterodyne generator 21 with those generated under control of a crystal 33 in a tube 31 and equal to the standard intermediate frequency. The radiated frequency is thus equal to that received but may be modified by manipulation of condenser 24a. After 5 seconds, the relays fall back and control of the receiver is resumed.
