[Class 38 (iv)] [Also in Groups XXXVII and XXXVIII] Speed.-In a control system for a plurality of electric motors, (see Group XXXVII), each motor has a spaced regulator operated by a pilot motor which is controlled by the difference between a reference voltage adjusted by a common master shaft and a voltage dependent on the setting of the speed regulator for, or the adjusted speed of, the individual motor under control. Each working-motor M is coupled to a tachometer generator TD, and the armature of each direct-current pilot motor PM is connected in a bridge circuit between the movable contact of a potentiometer P1, which is adjusted by a common master shaft MS and one of the brushes of the tachometer generator. The field windings of the pilot motors and the tachometer generators are supplied from a constant direct-current source, variable regulating resistances being included in the tachometer generator field circuits. Any deviation between the voltage set by the potentiometer PI and that of the tachometer generator will cause the pilot motor to rotate in an appropriate direction to adjust the speed regulator of the motor M and correct such deviation.
