[Class 20 (i)] A collapsable mast, particularly adapted for use as a wireless aerial and applicable to small ships, boats, buoys and the like, comprises a plurality of thin flexible sheets held together by plastic material to form a substantially rigid tubular structure capable of being flattened and rolled up; air pressure may be used to assist the unrolling. Alternatively, two strips of flexible material which have been constrained during manufacture normally to assume arcuate cross-section, are coupled along their longitudinal edges, so as to form oppositely disposed arcuate members, by flexible material such as adhesive strips, flexible links, or by a tubular elastic sheath. The top of the mast may be flattened by a clip to facilitate the rolling of the mast into coiled formation. The edges of the strips may be bound with protective material. The mast 2 may be clamped at its lower end into an outer hard rubber sheath 5, by an internal conically ended tube 9 exerting pressure through concentric sleeves of rubber with interposed layers 7, 8 of canvas.
