Abstract

586,197. Trap-shooting. YATES, E. A. July 10, 1944. No. 13108. [Class 132 (i)] A device for projecting a target disc into the air for clay pigeon shooting comprises an arm c pivoted at b to a board a which is supported on a stand in an inclined position at an angle which can be adjusted to vary the direction of propulsion of the target disc. The arm c is held against a stop g by a peg j engaging a trigger loop k, being retracted against the tension of elastic bands e looped round studs d on the arm c and studs f on the board a. The target disc rests on the arm c supported by a peg h and is held clear of the board by a raised part thereof r, the arm being appropriately cut away to clear the raised part. The pegs h and j and a third peg m are mounted on a block i behind the board; they work in bushes and are held in their forward position by a coil spring o inserted between the board a and a knob n on the forward end of the peg m. When the knob n is pressed the peg j disengages the trigger loop k, the supporting peg h is withdrawn and the contraction of the elastic bands e causes the arm c to project the target into the air, the portion u of the board a being cut away to prevent the studs d from hindering the swing of the arm c.
