Abstract
622,771. Toy missile projector. BAWCOMB, H. S., and ROSE, R. F. April 3, 1947, No. 9142. [Class 132 (iii)] A toy missile projector comprises a base, a guide member secured to the base, a resilient element slidable on this guide member and means for holding this resilient element in its discharging position and for releasing it whereby the projectile can be discharged from the guide member. For example, as shown, the projector comprises a base 1 to which the vertical guide 2 and vertical rods 10 are secured. A spiral spring 3 is loosely wound on the guide and is held under compression by a pin 5 which engages a hole 4 in the guide 2. The pin is pivotally attached at 6 to a lever 7 by means of which the pin is withdrawn and the spring released. The projectile 8, which is in the form of a rocket, has a tubular body with a point at one end and fins 9 at the other. It may be made from papier mache with a metal base. The fins rest on the vertical rods 10 when the rocket is in the discharge position. Instead of a spring, elastic attached to the rods 10, may be used to release the rocket which rests on the base. The projector is preferably made of wood but may be of any other suitable material.
