Abstract

585,948. Anchor nuts. DUNDAS, Ltd., R. K., KING, R. D., and WOOD, N. F. March 7, 1944, No. 4223. [Class 89 (i)] Relates to anchor nuts in which a nut is secured in a casing provided with means for securing it to a flat surface and consists in a number of forms of casing. The nuts may be stiff nuts as described in Specification 561,286. In one form the casing is of ebonite or synthetic resin and it is moulded round the nut 1, the base being formed with fixing holes 2c and with a hole 2d to pass the bolt, the material of base being in compression under the nut when the bolt is tightened. The locking portion of the nut projects from the casing. In modifications the casing is of forged or die cast metal or of fibre and the upper edge is flanged over to secure the nut. In a form constructed from sheet metal, a blank is stamped out having a portion 2b to form the base connected by narrow parts 2f to side portions 2a. The nut is assembled on the base with opposed flat sides adjacent the parts 2f and the parts 2a are bent up and around the nut the meeting edges being secured by soldering, brazing or welding or by a tongue and groove formation, Fig. 8. Lugs 2h are bent over to secure the nut within the casing. In a further form the side strips are made long enough to overlap.
