Abstract

A method of repairing breaks in the vitreous lining of steel equipment, comprises producing a clean roughened surface extending through to the metal by abrasive blasting, and applying a coating of gold or silver by means of a metallizing gun. A final coating of a corrosion-resisting film-forming organic material capable of resisting elevated temperatures may be applied. A synthetic drying oil comprising a divinyl acetylene polymer, and thermo-setting phenol formaldehyde lacquers, are suitable for this latter purpose.
