Abstract
584,221. Shuttle guards. LEEMING, T. Dec. 16, 1944, No. 25300. [Class 142 (iii)] A shuttle guard comprising three rods A, A', A<2> is attached to upwardly extending members H pivoted above the sley cap D so that as the sley moves forward the guard is raised clear of the temples. The guard is slidably mounted in leather guides E on the front of the sley cap D and the members H are connected to a shaft J which is pivoted in open bearings K. The bearings are provided with spring holders K<2> which retain the shaft in the open bearings or hold it in an inoperative position. Movement of the sley automatically pulls the shaft into the open bearings. Unfastening of the straps E permits the guard to be turned over the top of the loom so that it is out of the way of the weaver.
