Abstract
583,075. Cooking vessels. SCAVULLO, A. C. July 13, 1944, No. 13436. [Class 66J [Also in Groups II and XXII] A saucepan &c. is shaped by dies, from composite sheet metal so that it has a lining 10 of stainless steel, e.g., of austenitic chromium-nickel type, e.g., 0.05ins. thick, and a layer 11 of mild steel or iron, upon the outside of which is applied electrolytically, a coating 26 of copper, which may be thickened by spraying; extra copper may be applied at the corner 27 to increase heatconduction up the side. The handle 28, e.g., of an alloy of 58 per cent. of copper, 20 of zinc, 1 of lead and 1 of aluminium is welded to the copper coating by heating, and clamping it against the side, a block inside the saucepan preventing distortion during welding.
