Abstract
582,931. Bomb sights. WIMPERIS, H. E. March 20, 1940, No. 5227. Drawings to Specification. [Class 92 (ii)] A sight, preferably. an adjustable foresight, for use in dive or glide bombing from aircraft is so continuously set in accordance with a stated equation involving the airspeed, altitude and angle of dive or glide of the aircraft that, so long as the aircraft is manoeuvred to keep the sight on the target, the aircraft travels during the dive along a curve of increasing steepness such that the trajectory of the bomb released at any point on the curve will pass through the target. Four equations to suitable curves of flight for dive bombing and one equation to a suitable curve for glide bombing are given in the Specification.
