Abstract

Organic diisocyanate - modified polyester - amides are cured by heating in uniform admixture with a protein or a denatured protein, a curing agent, viz.: formaldehyde or a formaldehyde-liberating substance or a dichromate, and preferably with a curing catalyst, viz.: an acid or a material which is substantially neutral but which develops acidity under curing conditions. Proteins specified are glue, gelatine and casein. The ingredients are mixed or milled together with or without water or an organic solvent, and 25-175 parts of protein or denatured protein may be used per 100 parts of polyesteramide. The fillers, other plastic materials, detackifying agents, plasticisers, antioxidants, pigments, solvents, polyester-and polyamide-forming reactants, diisocyanates and articles and applications listed in Specification 581,439 are listed here also. In examples, the organic diisocyanate modified polyesteramide obtained according to example 7 of Specification 580,524 is heated in admixture with glue, gelatine, or casein and with hexamethylolmelamine hexamethyl ether or ammonium dichromate, and with 2,4-dichloro-1-naphthol. Specifications 580,526 and 581,146 also are referred to.
