580,840. Magnets. OLIVER, D. A., and JESSOP & SONS, Ltd., W. Dec. 24, 1941, No. 17059/40. [Class 35] A permanent magnet assembly for use with magnetron oscillators has a gap common to a number of local circuits each comprising a composite C-magnet formed from two shaped, preferably U-shaped, magnets 24 providing at one end a proportion of,the boundary 'face 21 of the gap and one bar-magnet 25 connecting the other ends of the shaped magnets 24. Bolts 26 of brass connect magnets 24 and 25, and the two local circuits shown are secured together by bolts 23 seated in tapered holes filled with white metal, the adjoining faces 22 being ground plane. Preferably, the circuits are symmetrically arranged about the gap. The magnet material may be anisotropic, with enhanced magnetic properties in the direction of the flux path.
