Abstract
580,473. Etching. HUNTER-PENROSE, Ltd., and LLOYD, W. T. Dec. 22, 1944, No. 25720. [Class 100 (ii)] Power-driven rockers for etching or other similar baths are constructed with a pair of cradles 3a, 3b which are rocked simultaneously in opposite directions in such manner that the movements of either cradle in one direction counterbalance the movements of the other cradle in the opposite direction. The cradles are mounted in bearings in the upper end of. a pedestal 10 which encloses the operating mechanism so as to prevent injury thereto by acid, and the rocking motor is effected by cams 30a, 30b acting upon rollers 31 on arms 13a, 13b depending from the rockers, which are fitted with weights 32 for pressing the arms against the cams. The arms 13a, 13b are formed of two pivoted parts normally kept together by springs 34, and either rocker can be moved counter-clockwise to empty the bath, and its arm 13a or 13b is then moved out of range of the cam's action, and a buffer 35 restrains the downward movement of the bath. The cam shaft 14 is driven by worm gearing operated by an electric motor enclosed in the pedestal 10.
