Abstract

580,037. Helicopters. UNITED AIRCRAFT CORPORATION. April 16, 1945, No. 9448. Convention date, July 24, 1944. [Class 4] In helicopter rotors stops 14 and 16, normally urged by means such as spring 42 to a position shown in Fig. 4 to prevent undue downward movement of a helicopter blade 10, are moved to an inoperative position as shown in Fig. 2 by centrifugal force due to rotation of the rotor. The arm 36 carrying a stop 14 is mounted on a lever 40, pivoted at 38 to the rotor support 22 and connected to the spring 42, which maintains the block in the inoperative position until overcome by centrifugal force.
