Abstract

578,735. Drying cloth. DUNGLER, J-. May 31, 1940, No. 9566. [Class 34 (i)] In a machine for drying cloth in long lengths by hot air projected from nozzles, the width of the nozzles is adjusted to the width of the cloth. The cloth 3 is held by clips 2, 2<1> on chain-guide rails, 1, 1<1>. Air is fed through pipes 4 over heaters 6 to chambers 7 having lateral extensions 8, 8<1>. Each nozzle comprises a central part 9 of V-shape in cross section, with extensions 10, 10<1> which are capable of telescoping into or over the central part when the rails 1, 1<1> are adjusted laterally to the width of the cloth. The conduits 8, 8<1> are provided with end members 13, 13<1> secured to the extensions 10, 10<1>, and moving with them. The moisture-laden air escapes through the free spaces between the nozzles. In a modification, Fig. 4 (not shown), two sets of nozzles are shown, one on each side of a partition in the centre of the machine, for blowing and suction respectively. Alternatively, the two sets may be on opposite sides of the cloth.
