When the handle is rotated in the driving direction, the cam k rocks the pawl f and throws one end f<1> outwards to engage a notch d' to give a positive driving action..Upon a reverse motion being applied to the handle g, the cam k initially remains fixed due to the end pressure applied through washers h, h<1>, and the pawl f takes up the position shown to lie inside the circumference of the cam, permitting free-wheel action. Struts c<2> connect a rim c<1> with the back-plate c.
