Abstract

576,898. Packing tablets. HAMPSHIRE & CO., Ltd., F. W., and MOSELEY, E. J. May 25, 1944, No. 10149. [Class 94 (i)] Tablets are delivered in batches of definite number down chutes 28, 29 alternately from a tablet-making machine comprising punches 12 and dies 14. The tablets are delivered by ejectors 13 on to a table 101 rotating with the die-carrier 10, and each die 12 as it passes a tappet 21 operates a lever to cause a pawl 24 to rotate a ratchet 20 on a shaft 19 through the distance of one tooth. The shaft 19 is fitted with a commutator switch which energizes a solenoid 27 which by means of a rod 33 actuates a baffle 32 to cause the tablets to be delivered alternately in predetermined numbers to the shoots 28, 29. In the position shown in Fig. 3 the baffle 32 permits a plough 31 to direct the tablets to the shoot 29, but when the baffle 32 is moved counter-clockwise a plough 30 directs them to the shoot 28. More than two shoots may be employed. In a modification the ploughs for the two shoots 28, 29 are formed by a single member of inverted duplex channel section and the baffle directs the batches alternately to the two shoots. The counting- device may operate through mechanical, pneumatic, or hydraulic mechanism instead of electrical, and a pneumatic dust-extractor may be fitted to the device.
