Abstract

[Class 80 (iii)] [Also in Group XXIX] In a servomotor control system, a controlled member is actuated by a rod J, Fig. 1, connected to a link I pivoted to a nut B and having a pin and slot connection to a nut H. The spindle A is rotated by the servomotor and the spindle G, having a thread of the opposite hand, is driven through the spur gearing C, D. The spindle G has a radial arm L that can be driven by the pin F on the speed wheel D. When the servomotor operates and the pin F engages the arm L, the two nuts B and H move along the spindles and actuate the rod J but upon reversal of rotation of the servomotor, the nut H remains stationary until the pin F again engages the arm L and during this period the rod J is moved at a reduced speed. In a modified form, the servomotor drives a shaft M, Fig. 2, carrying a nut A having a fine thread engaging a thread C on a spindle fitted with a radial arm E co-operating with a pin B. The spindle has a coarse thread D screwing into a nut F attached to the rod J. The fine pitch thread C gives a fine adjustment upon each reversal of the drive.
