Abstract

575,942. Filtering sludge. TAYLOR, D. Feb. 4, 1944, No. 2051. [Class 46] [Also in Group XXVIII] A tank 1 for use in the removal of sludge from, for example, a grinding machine is fitted with an ejector 6 connected to a pipe 7 for supplying air under pressure. At the side of the tank is an outlet fitted with a suction pipe 14 through which sludge can be drawn into the tank when the valves 9, 10 of the ejector are opened. The sludge is supported by a sieve through which the liquid portion of the sludge is forced when valves 10, 13 are closed and valve 5 is opened. The solid portion of the sludge assists in the filtration of the liquid. The tank is pivotally mounted on a wheeled frame.
