Abstract

Allyl alcohol is condensed with organic diisocyanates to give diallyl esters of the corresponding dicarbamic acids. Aliphatic, cycloaliphatic, aromatic and heterocyclic diisocyanates are specified and derivatives of allyl alcohol with substituents in the 1- and 2-positions may also be used. The products are polymerised by heating to 80-150 DEG C. with a catalyst such as benzoyl peroxide, acetyl peroxide, sodium peroxide, sodium perborate or tertiary butyl chromate. In the examples: (1) allyl alcohol is condensed with hexamethylene diisocyanate, meta-phenylene diisocyanate or cyclohexylene diisocyanate; (2) 2-methallyl alcohol is condensed with hexamethylene diisocyanate.
